The olympics gold medal, how much do they weight or pound?

An olympic medal weighs about 5 ounces. They are all mostly silver and jade.  The gold metal is plated with no less than 6 grams of gold.  That's a reasonable thickness of plating, but the gold is worth about $150US.

I thought you might find it interesting to know that the medals are not solid gold.they are actually silver gilded with no less than 6 grams of pure gold. sorry to have bored you if you already new this fact.
