We just paid $600 for our 8 week old pup Griffin.  I've seen them between $400-$600

Go to www.akc.org and look for breeders in your area.  Email some of them about the prices of their puppies.

The amount for any pet can vary greatly depending on the s*x of the animal, the location in which you are purchasing, and also the animals bloodline. You can find breeders almost anywhere by using several websites such as the AKC, or even you may want to check into adopting an animal which generally comes with only small fees. There are many options out there you just have to look at all of them and choose what suits your financial situation at the time. I personally have 3 retrievers and have spent approxamately 400 on each of them.

The cost varies greatly depending on the location and blood line.  Mine cost about $600 4 years ago, my roomies costs about $1000 in the DC area but another friend got a Golden for 400, it really just depends.  They are worth the money though, by far the best dog I have ever had.  

You could find mixed ones for a lot cheaper if you don't need/want a pure bread.

I breed Goldens and sell them from $900-$1000 depending on the parents. Of course the are pure-bred, AKC regitered, show goldens. However many people buy them just to be a pet. I would HIGHLY recommend buying from a breeder. I have a litter due at the and of sept. Please do not buy from a pet store.
