How much do marine biologist get paid?

  1. It depends.

    Most marine biologists (like myself) work for colleges/universities as professors who do research in the summer.  College professors start out in the range of $35,000-$48,000 depending on the location and type of insitution. (Which isn't very much considering you need to have a PhD and therefore likely have significant student loan debt.)

    Some marine biologists work for government agencies like NOAA, NMFS, or state marine departments.  Starting salaries are similar if you have at least a Masters degree.
