How much do owners of a clothing store, say a hip hop clothing store make? I am thinking of opening one.

In addition in general what are the start up costs associated with opening a store. I have the perfect site all ready with the lease being about 2 grand a month.

Its alot of work, Im 19 and my mom owned her own business. She lasted a good 3 years then had to shut down bc it was to stressful having to deal with inventory taxes and payroll. But She really liked and it made her very happy and independent, I would say GO FOR IT! If it doesn't work out, you've learned something!

A small business isn't going to servive times like these. Ecspically ''hip hop'' clothes. Those things cost a lot more then they are worth and who wants to buy a 85 dollar shirt of tupac when they have to put some gas in their cadi or escilade?

A store can probably be opened for less than $50,000 if you're a good negotiator.

As for what the owner makes, they make whatever is left over after the expenses are paid and some money is left in the company. In the early years of a shop it typically works out to about minimum wage, but it can be less if the company can't afford to pay you from time to time.
