Someone has asked us to do full time day care for their one year old daughter, and we have no idea what the going rate is. Any information would be great.

  1. It depends on several things. Where will you be watching the child (their home, your home)? Do you watch other children or just the one?

I took my daughter to a lady who kept her in her home full time Mon thru Friday. She kept other children and she was retired so she only charged me $280 a month. Normally, I think the going rate would be about $400 a month.

  2. i charge 150.00 a week or 35.00 a day.  7:30-5:30 and the parents bring the kids lunch.

  3. It depends on a lot. Your location and what people in your location charge, the hours, meals, receipts, what your expected to buy. etc.

I run a home child care in my home from 6am-3pm. I charge $40 for two kids with receipts, or $30 for two kids without receipts. I live in an area where the going rate is $35 per child per day, so my rates are pretty reasonable.

I'd check out a local early years centre and look at any ads, or try to find people in your area that do care and find out what their going rates are and for how many hours.

Also find out if those fees include food, with or without receipts, and if they charge extras. For example, if the family asks you to provide diapers or formula, make sure they know and agree to reimbursing you on pay days for those purchases.

Also, ALWAYS ALWAYS get a written contract to save your butt in case something goes wrong and to hold the family accountable if anything goes wrong.

If you'd like a sample contract, send me an e-mail via Yahoo Answers, and I'll be more than willing to send one. It includes my rates, late policies, sick policies and everything you can think of.

    Good luck.
