What is considered average income, high income, and low income in Britain? I was curious because I know that things are more expensive in Britain and I know that the GBP is about double the American dollar but I don't know what the British people earn. If you put the amounts in quid that would be easier. Thanks in advance!

  1. Idk

  2. it all depends on what job their doing

    doctor earn the most

  3. Salary starts around £10k-£20k for admin/clerical jobs.

    £30k is roughly average,

someone earning 50k+ would be considered well off,

someone earning 70-80k+ would be considered rich.

  4. When I was working there in a minimum-skilled admin job, I was earning around UK900 per month after tax and national insurance and all that.  Although that was a few years ago - before the minimum wage which is around UK5-UK6 per hour now.

  5. I earn £20,500 per year (about £1,350 a month after taxes)

I didn't go to university and i work in customer services/administration, I've been in my job for a year and started on £19,000.

A full time worker at McDonalds or a supermarket would start on £14-16k. Tax is about 20%.

If you are on benefits (welfare) you would get about £45 a week for a single person, and your rent is paid also. This isn't taxed.

  6. things are much more expensive here!  when my boyfriends mum goes to America on holidays she comes back with all this make up and stuff that she paid like quarter of the price for!

    it's £10 here and $4 (£2) in America!

anyway, low income would be  ÃƒÂ‚£17 thousand a year or under, anything over say £45 thousand a year would be high! i think!

as people have said doctors are usually highest paid. (unless you own your own business) college and university tutors are quite highly paid to! so are managers of big company's!  low paid jobs are *most* factory workers, cleaners, small shop and fast food restraint workers!

  7. We have a national minimum wage of £6 .50p per hour( appros $13 ) for low paid jobs . The average wage in England is about £30,000 ( $60,000 ) per year for a half decent type of job such as a police constable.

  8. we are all on the breadline and poverty stricken thanks to our clever government who couldnt organise a food fight in a bakery a bunch of useless losers

  9. Average salary is about £27000 that about $52000 depending on the exchange rate.
