  1. I make $6,500 in the US

I am middle-low on the payscale. It takes alot of time to make 10-15 thousand a month.

  2. Pilots make about 10 000$-20 000$ a month.

  3. Judging from some of these answers I would say..yay to one...and nay...to another....The industry isn't as strong as it used to be..There are ALOT of pilots out here looking for work..who will work for less than some of us are currently...

I am currently flying a Hawker 800XP (HS-125) PIC..and I only make 62K/year...before taxes...I do feel I am underpaid...but..at least I have a job..so no need to complain....you will make between $1000/month (CFI) type salary....to anything really...I have seen them as high as 12000/month....I am a little over 5000/month...im in the low market scale right now.....probably with the economy the way it is it will be low to start for quite a while....

  4. it depends on the pilot and where they'er located our local pilots go by flight hour and its about $85 an hour for commercial purposes

  5. It all depends on the airline or cargo carrier. Air time is limited and as airlines cut back in salaries, pilots are having to work closer and closer to the maximum amount of hours allowed. I think it is about 10 hours a week or 40 per month. One can make around $140,00 a year and up.

  6. I assume you're referring to airlines, and pay in the USA in particular, so I'll leave out all the other types of flying jobs, which are many, and pay in other countries, which is often higher.

A copilot for a regional airline starts out at about $1,600 a month, $2000 tops. The pay does not rise quickly. At 5 years, most regional copilots still make under $40k per year.

A copilot for a major airline starts out at around $3k per month, but the pay does rise relatively quickly. After 5 years the average pay is between $6k and $10k per month, depending on the airline and type of plane.

A captain for a major airline starts at approx. $10k per month and after ten years tops out at about $15k to $20k per month, depending on the airline and airplane.  From leaving flight school, it usually takes a minimum of 10 years to get hired and rise to captain for a major airline, and then another 10 years to reach the top of the pay scale.

I'll bet you thought it was more. The "big bucks" that you hear about are only being made by about 3% of airline pilots who are at the top of their pay scale. Many professions are more financially lucrative than flying for a living.

  7. a lottt. 1 hour of flying is equal to 8 hours of office work.
