  1. I don't agree that it is easy or takes no degree and that anyone can be a preschool teacher.  I have a degree in early childhood education and a teaching certificate and teach HeadStart/State Pre-K and make comparable to what I made as a first year teacher in the public schools.  The only drawback with pay is that I won't get a yearly raise like in the public schools.  In addition, no good teacher goes into teaching for the money.

  2. i get 12$an hour

  3. It depends on the centre and your experience. I started at $8.75 about 6 years ago. I am now an assistant supervisor in training. Privately owned centres are different, YMCAs pays good if you can get in, the City of Toronto centres pays well (but hard to get into). If you love children as I do, that's the ultimate reward when you see children you've worked with throughout the years develop into intelligent productive young people.

  4. I am a preschool teacher and It all depends on the level of experience and how mauch training you have for your state.  Does your state require you to have 45 hrs or a cda or a degree?  If so I would get that so I could get paid more money.

  5. It depends on your position and the center. Lead teachers make more money. Always. More experience = more money. Higher Class centers also pay better, but be prepared to work harder. Generally it averages anywhere from $8/hr on up.

If you like kids though, it's the best job you will ever have. (The four year old classes are the best - easy and fun!)

  6. It does depend on the factors mentioned above.  Unfortunately the pay is usually by the hour and very rarely has benefits.  Most teachers have very little qualifications to be considered "a teacher" so the pay isn't much.  The field is in a difficult position because many universities are ridding their education programs of "early childhood education" because of this dilemma with low pay.  Who wants to spend a average of $80,000 for a four year degree that will pay between $20,000-$30,000 annually?  Really, the only way to actually "make a living" as a pre- school teacher is to either be involved with a private center that might offer something "progressive" or to add administration responsibilities to your day.  I am not trying to discourage you if you are contemplating this.....I look at my days as a pre-school teacher as some of my favorite.  I should offer that if you do have a training ground in your community (ie. university,trade/vocational) that a position as a teacher in these centers pay more.  I wish you well on this decision. I think any teacher that posts here will agree that it isn't a job to get rich on money wise....but in personal growth, community, human services.......you will be a millionaire.
