It varies. I am a school nurse in NC.

It depends on if you would be employeed by a hospital or public health agency, or if you would be employeed by the school system. being employeed by the school system means you won't get paid as much. They understand nurses are needed, but do not fully understand how much we do to help keep children healthy and safe at school.

It also depends on what kind of education and certifications you have. If you have a BSN or higher, or are a certified school nurse, you should also make more money.

I work for a public health agency, and make decent money. I didn't take a pay cut when leaving the hospital. Don't know if that is good, or just reflects poorly on the hospital!
