More specifically, is there discrimination between Australians and those from other countries, salary-wise?

  1. Depends on grade and experience.  Here is a website with more information - http://www.eduweb.vic.gov.au/hrweb/emplo...

And here is the salary scale:

Your question about discrimination is difficult.  Salaries are different in other countries (some pay more and some less) but often the difference is also reflected in the cost of living in those places.

There is a difference in remuneration between states/territories, too (as there is for many professions).  There are also some incentive schemes in place (which provide extra payment) for teaching some subjects and for teaching in remote/less desirable areas.
