  1. In the U.S. I believe they make about $60+ annually. It depends on how much they work and for what company. But you cannot start out as an engineer. You have to begin as a conductor/switchman. Switchman earn about $40+ annually, again it depends on how much they work.

  2. Dunno - as far as I know, drivers are paid around £7 an hour (roughly). Say you do a 40 hour week - that's £280 a week

  3. According to ASLEF, £35,000 plus allowances. See the link for details.

  4. Trainee drivers will earn around £20k, rising to around £35k basic plus overtime when qualified (this takes about a year).

Southeastern drivers work a 37 hour, 5 day week, so there is plenty of scope for overtime, although Sundays are within the normal working week.

  5. Fully qualified drivers (as opposed to a second man) without overtime would be on around £26K,with overtime that could be pushed up to well over £30k,,but for that they virtually have to stop all drinking,no drugs whatsoever and work very unsocial hours,,but then again they do have the lives of several hundred people entrusted in their skills,

  6. About £35,000 per year; depends on the number of hours worked.
