How much do storm chasers get paid on average...?

Like the kind from the movie twister (do those kinds of storm chasers exist? ) if so how much would that type of job pay on average?

  1. Storm chasing is a "job" for very few people.  Government researchers, university professors and graduate students may do it as a part of their research, but most of their time is spent doing other things. Scientists typically get paid from $40K-$120K, while graduate students might get $20K.  These are the same wages that university professors or graduate students would get paid in other fields.


  2. Storm chasing is generally only a hobby for different groups of people.  College students, meteorologists on their time-off, researchers, and others will do it for no pay.

    The only people that are getting paid are the ones who have established storm chasing companies.  You can google this and look up the companies.

    Also, watch the National Geographic channel.  They have a special from time to time that airs which shows weathermen attempting to get special measurements by driving into a tornado with a weighted down car.  This would be the closest thing to "Twister" storm chasers.  I doubt they get paid to do this however, unless it was funded or used for research.
