How much do tattoos itch?

I'm thinking about getting a tattoo, but I've been told that they itch. I can handle pain just fine, but I don't do so well with itching. How bad is it, and how long does the itching last?

  1. It's pretty itchy while it's healing, but it only lasts for a few days.  Whenever it itches you just give it a good slap.

  2. they dont itch they hurt like h**l! why do you want one!?? its like a bee's *** rubbing up and down your arm, not stinging, just rubbing.

  3. I just got a tattoo on my side a little over a week ago. It hardly itches at all. I was told that I should have been in the itchy stage by now. But I've yet to get there.

There were a couple of times that it itched, and when it did it was the most annoying thing in the world because you can't itch it.

If you really want a tattoo though, don't worry about the itching because it will be totally worth it in the end.

  4. Mine didn't itch too bad, just keep it moisturized and it shouldn't bother you too much.

  5. i want two be level 2 please pick me for your best answer. By-the-way they do itch  but you shouldn't scratch them.

  6. It itches bad and you can't scratch it so what i do it slap it lol sounds crazy but it helps. I mean i don't slap it that hard. Also the lotion helps some.

  7. it should only be itchy for like 4 days at the most. it is not constant itching. it is not unbearable. i have never had anyone ask about the itching. so this is a bit different. if you want a tattoo, you will stand the itch.

  8. The tattoos I recently got on my back itched sooo bad. I tried really hard not to scratch them...but sometimes it was impossible. I didn't full on scratch them though, just a few times. Otherwise I slapped them, which seems to work pretty well and it's a lot better than scratching. My itching only lasted for about a week...but sometimes it was horrible.

  9. it itches a lot

  10. Getting a tattoo will hurt while the line parts are being done, but the shading does not hurt as much. It will feel like a sun burn for a couple days and then will start to scab over.  In about a week it starts itching as the dead skin starts to flake away, but withing two weeks your tattoo will be looking great. It's important to put a light coating of A&D ointment or neosporin on your tattoo several times a day for the first seven days and not scratch at it or pick off scabs.

  11. it itches and its not that bad, you cant scratch it , you will most likely mess up the tattoo , it's just part of the healing process.

it is tolerable, just tap at it, do not scratch it
