  1. It can range from $20 to $800 depending as others have already pointed out, what condition the horse is in.

I work at a saleyards, where every month about 100 horses are dogged. But please remember everybody some of these horses truely are in distress and it's the best thing for them. If people didn't send their horses off to the knackery they did not want, many would starve to death in back paddocks on bush blocks in the country.

Not to mention the trauma many carry with them upon arriving at a sale. Most are literally "beyond help".

Yes it is sad, and you may think why are people like this?, well it's just how it is. I don't recommend saving "dog" horses unless your VERY sure you know what your doing.

  2. Its usually $500. But it varies, eg horses that are malnourished are worth much less however horses in better health can be worth quite a lot.

    i hope this helped somewhat.

make sure you'll be saving one, not selling one :)

  3. I am from Victoria.

I have found Shetlands and small ponies go from $50 and big horse can range to up to $800 for the real heavy ones.

I have saved 4 horses to the person that said some are beyond help. They were on the next truck to the knackery because they were suposibly 'useless' and to scared and 'wild' and 'dangerous' to save. Well withing 2 months they have become my little babies.

But either way there are a few knackerys in Vic all paying diffrent prices.

If you are really that interested in finding out how much the knackery pays for horses to be killed then go to you nearest horse sales and watch the knackery guys bid on some extremely well produced horses and ponies.

You may be surprised we bidded against a knackery one day and picked up a little show pony for $80 now sold to QLD doing driving in royals.

  4. around 300 to 500 bucks but please dont give your horse to the knackey!!!its sooo cruel :(

if you wanna give your horse away give it to a nice home :)

  5. They pay up to their weight worth (soz I know that doesn't tell you much).

Ok so I live in NSW and my stable owners/instructors buy sale horses all the time (sometimes just to save, but most of the time to train and resell at our stables), to outbid the doggers, the most they spend is about $300-$400 (they're mainly 15hh-16hh TBs).

  6. to buy horses like saving them its like $300 dollars.

but PLEASE save one dont put one in...

and the only 1 is in yarra glen..

  7. Man what the h**l is a knackery?? haha
