  1. Been there done that,,.,conductor and currently engineer for csx...I had to pay to go to school for the hopes to get a job with csx , was close to 10k when all said and done...now they pay you to train...and as for the $$$ you'll get the 1st year...it all depends on how long you get laid off for the 1st year..and yes you'll get laid off...

  2. Kinda off topic, but my first year with the CN on the extra board as a conductor, I made $92,000 (Neenah Sub)

  3. they send you to a conductors school first for 6 weeks, you make 550.00 a week. then you have 16 weeks of on the job training ,at that point you make 660.00 a week. However there is alot of overtime so you will probably make more. You also continue to get raises throughout your first year. On the average conductor make 43,000 their first year.

  4. sounds like alot of training, though i checked on their website and that is what it says.

I would say you could make about $50-60k your first year (averaged out... starting now to Dec probably about 25-30k)

The NARS program is 6 weeks long, i can't see CSX putting you through a total of 22 weeks of training.  The longest that BNSF puts you through is 15 weeks (unless you don't pass your conductor test)... pay is about $700 per week in training.
