How much do u think I should help my daughters with for loans?

They are both graduating this May and will have loans to pay off after they get out. I was wondering how much I should help them or whats a good amount of money. The problem is i might have to start paying for my high school kids tuition. IM STUCK

  1. Do what you can, but the truth is that they should be able to begin paying soon. I knew my parents would never help me with school, so I found other ways to pay.

    I'm graduating this week, as well, and the job market seems pretty bad. However, there is no motivation like the realization of how much interest really adds to the cost.

    Just a harmless question: why is your kid going to a school that requires tuition? There are many ways to get a great education at a public school, when tutoring and after school programs are used.


  2. Did you talk about this with them before they started school? My parents were clear with me that my loans were mine to pay, so I didn't expect anything. Then again, I had a job starting in June, and the loans all had a six-month grace, so I had income by the time I needed to start paying.

    I would say, pay about the same for all of your kids, regardless of whether they picked an expensive school or state school. That way, everything is about fair in the end. Don't pay for your daughters' loans at the expense of your other child or vice versa...
