The median annual salary (as of December 2007) for all veterinarians in private practice is $79,000.  For equine (horse) veterinarians it's $91,000.  Food-animal veterinarians also get about $91,000.  Those in mixed practice, with both large and small animals, make a little less, about $73,000.  Those figures are for ALL veterinarians--you make more when you have been out of school for awhile, more if you own your own practice rather than working for someone else, etc.
