  1. Most people in wildlife conservation work either for the federal or state governments. Pay depends on levels of education and experience and ranges from adequate to pretty decent. Pay scales should be available online.

    Generally, they work relatively little with the animals themselves when it comes to replenishing populations. It is more important to modify the habitat to make it suitable for the animals. To misquote Field of Dreams, "If you build it, they will come".

    As far as keeping a wild animal goes, you need a permit or two (state, local, and federal) depending on what it is. Unless you have both the education and experience to support your request for a permit, fuhgeddaboudit!
