I have an interview tomorrow. It's a job to help pay the rent whilst I am at uni. How much do they earn? I know it's more than minimum wage.

  1. minimum wage is 5.52 per hour general staff at Tesco's get £6 per hour.

to get more than this you have to get to team leader where yu can break the £8 barrier but management get upwards of £20 (my local store manager (huge store) has £225,000 pa)

Aldi Start at around £7.90 /hour and Sainsbury's around £7.

Tesco's are one of the lowest paid stores and they use the american Standard & Poor recruitment process - they do not want people who think! just people who will do as told without questioning even if its wrong!

  2. Providing you are over 18.

If you are workoing anywhere OTHER than the Customer Service Desk, the minimum grade currently is £6.25 an hour.

However For the first 6 months of this, you will be on a certain % of this ( i think it approx 92%) which is £5.75.

For the next 6 months, you will be on 95% of the rate (£5.97)

After the first year of employment you are then classed as an established employee and will earn the normall hourly rate.

Every year they have a payrise of approx 15-20p per hour.

Working Sundays will earn you time and a half.

  3. Checkout ops are on about £5.68 per hour
