I took seeds from a fresh tomato, how long do you have to let the seeds dry out? They are pretty much dry, but I am worried about any plant matter still on them.

  1. Seeds can be dry to the touch and still be wet inside, Chris. Put them into an open container and leave them in a dry airy place (fridge top) for a week or two. Then you can wrap them tightly in some aluminum foil or keep them in a tiny, covered container, preferably refrigerated, until next season. Growing food is a beautiful experience; enjoy it!

  2. First try to get all the matter off.Whats left wont hurt a thing and will come off even more once dryed. Now as far as drying them it shouldnt take more than a couple weeks to make sure they are solid dry all thru.In the event you are putting them in a baggie if you do so poke holes in the bag to let moister out.I vacume pack mine.Remember what ever your saving for next years seeds for you have to make sure you havent cross pollinated it with another type of mator. Its the fruit for next year that will be affected by it.Last year i grew red beef steak with a low acid tomato close by.I saved the seed knowing it would be a blush color yellow tomato and indeed it was.The reason for it is i wanted a semi low acid tomato. The end result was a great sauce fruit. If the tomato came from the store its hard to tell what it grew near this year lol.Give it a try and learn.Good luck....
