I was thinking about working in the Gift Shop, and was wondering which ones were best, what the minimum pay is and how many months you stay on board at a time.

  1. On carnival you make 75 dollars a month plusss comission on what you sale. 15% comission.

so you could make over 2000 dollars a month, just depends on what you sale.

and you stay on carnival for 6 months then they deport you back home [if you live in the US they just send you home]

Then you spend 6 months at home with no pay and then go back to a new ship in 6 months.

    Hope i helped!

Carnival is the Best ship to work for!

  2. I worked for Harding Brothers a retail concession based out of Bristol England, and the company is the worst company I have ever worked for in my life.  Experiences ranging from the managers calling the shop staff "f*#!*ing idiots" on the shop floor to getting paid 15 days after the pay day, (with flights and a loyalty bond taken out of the check).  The job was great, the company was horrible.  If I were you I would apply with Starboard.  The people I worked with said Starboard pays for your certificates (harding does not, which adds up to around $2000 for everything including a medical) and they are more prompt with placing you on a ship.  If you are English you might like Hardings only because they favor thier own, but if you are not then good luck.  If you are just starting on a ship it will cost you more to work for them, than you will actually make.  Trust me, I worked with 5 other peole who once they finally received a ship were completely broke from the money they had to shell out to work with Hardings.  Just go to facebook.com and look for the group I hate harding brothers.  I found the group a little too late, but I'm sure it will help you.  :)  A typical ship contract is six months and the pay varies.  Hardings is 600 pound a month plus commission, but they cap the amount you can make (minus flights and 300 pound loyalty bond).  My first check after working a month was $160, seriously.  At starboard they list the pay as $500 plus commission a month.  Really though the pay is bad anywhere, but you are not paying bills so you can save as much as you want.  And you get to see fantastic places.  It's worth a shot.
