  1. Expect to start at minimum wage.  If you&#039;re doing work study, don&#039;t expect it to get any better.

    At our library, there are a few positions where students can get more pay by taking on more responsibility. For instance, the &quot;night manager&quot; supervises other students during the wee hours of the morning.  But students aren&#039;t offered those positions until they&#039;ve proven themselves in one of the minimum-wage positions.

    There are ways to move &quot;up the ladder&quot; in library work, but you may have to change libraries to do it. For more information on positions and payscales you should check out the American Library Association&#039;s annual salary survey.


  2. That would really vary from library to library. There is a job opening where I live in the southwest that is for a library page which is an entry level job and it pays about $7.50 an hour.
