What's the threshold in Maryland at which point you don't get your Federal and state-withheld money back after you submit your taxes?

  1. You get a tax refund if you overpay your taxes through either withholding or estimated payments.  There is no income limit to that situation.  You could earn less than the filing requirement amount ($8,950 for wages in 2008) and get all withheld income taxes back or earn millions and overpay your tax liability and still get a refund of the excess.


  2. There is no amount that you have to make.  As long as you had more taxes taken out of your paycheck than what was required to pay in, you will get a refund when you file your tax return.

    For federal income tax, if you make under $5450 in 2008 if you are a dependent, or $8950 if you aren't, you'll get a full refund of the federal income tax withholding.
