I am 23 but I only weigh 90 somthing pounds. I thought it was on the closer side to 100 but maybe some where around 93-95. We just bought a 2007 kia optima and the passenger air bag light does not come on when i'm sitting there but if my husband gets in it does. How much do you have to weigh to make it come on? I don't want to be the only one in the car to get hurt if we have an accident just because i'm skinny. Maybe I should start carrying a 10lb weight around with me....

  1. my car is 80lbs

  2. This sounds like where a kid goes in a confessional and is too light to make the 'occupied' light go out...With the car, does the light go out when the right seat is unoccupied?...If not, have a dealer take a look...The big thing with airbags is the distance a body is from the stowed bag...The driver should be at least 10 inches away from the steering wheel and the passenger should be the same from the dash.

    All the best.

  3. In my car you have to weigh eighty pounds.

  4. I really think it has more to do with height. As long as you are tall enough for the seat belt to go across your chest you will be ok.

  5. You need to weight at least 45 to 50 pounds for this to work correctly according to Kia.

What needs to be done is the dealer will need to either reset the sensor or light or you have a problem with that seat or sensor....................

This would be covered under warranty...........................
