If your now your stuff, then maybe you could help me. I have always been interested in getting a Jeep Wrangler, but with gas being as high as it is, my dream is crushed. What would be the next best thing, resembling in looks and actions, but lower on gas. Is there even such a thing?

  1. Toyota FJ Cruiser, but not much better on gas.

    Hummer H3 slightly better.

  2. You can get Wranglers with 4 cylinder engines and 5 speed transmissions. They should be pretty good on gas. The only thing That I can think of that is similar to the Jeep might be the Suzuki Samurai or Geo Tracker. These can be made into very capable off-road machines with some mods. They can also be hard to find in descent shape, also much like the Wrangler.

  3. Nothing really compares to an honest to goodness Jeep Wrangler. You could probably pick up some older Jeep or Toyota 4x4. However, these wouldn't get much better mileage (possibly worse as they are older). You could try to get something like a Patriot or Compass. The Parrot and Compass are not are qualified for off-roading as the Wrangler or maybe a Liberty or Cherokee, but they are still Jeeps. They won't be the same but they will cost you less to buy, insure and fuel.

  4. Nope, not very many vehicles like that. You'll just have to deal with gas prices or give up that dream. Why do you want a Jeep?

  5. Jeep Cherokee its a jeep its fairly cheep and has a decent miles to the gallon

  6. The problem with is that the Wrangler is not aerodynamic, and any off-road vehicle that has a soft top is going to be similarly configured. The Chevy Tracker/Suzuki Samurai are slightly more efficient, but they have a reputation for being one of the worst-handling vehicles on the planet, with a crash mortality rate that is three times higher than those of other cars.

Perhaps you can prioritize which of the Wrangler's features really appeal to you, and then re-post gthde question.

  7. You could try an older Jeep TJ or a Honda Ridgeliner
