  1. Thunder is caused when the cooler air around a lighting bolt becomes over-saturated by the heat from the bolt causing the the hot air to move through the cool air faster than the speed of sound

  2. the shape of a dogs ear helps them hear better

  3. Cacti come in a wide range of shapes and sizes. The tallest is Pachycereus pringlei, with a maximum recorded height of 19.2 m, and the smallest is Blossfeldia liliputiana, only about 1 cm diameter at maturity. Cactus flowers are large, and like the spines and branches arise from areoles. Many cactus species are night blooming, as they are pollinated by nocturnal insects or small animals, principally moths and bats. Cacti range in size from small and globular to tall and columnar.

    Thank you!

  4. Iguanas :)

The two species of lizard within the genus Iguana possess a dewlap, a row of spines running down their back to their tail, and a third eye on their head. This eye is known as the Parietal eye, which looks just like a pale scale on the top of their head. Behind their neck are small scales which resemble spikes, known as tuberculate scales. They also have a large round scale on their cheek known as a subtympanic shield.

    Sight

Iguanas have excellent vision and are able to see shapes, shadows, color and movement at long distances. Iguanas use their eyes to navigate through crowded forests, as well as for finding food. They also use visual signals to communicate with members of the same species.

They respond to visual stimulus of colors such as orange and yellow as food substances.

    Hearing

An iguana's ear is known as the tympanum. It is the iguana's ear drum, and is located right above the subtympanic shield and behind the eye. This is a very thin and delicate part of the iguana, and crucial to their hearing.

    Thanks I learnt something :)

  5. Just one cow gives off enough harmful methane gas in a single day to fill around 400 liter bottles. Methane is a relatively potent gas with a high global warming potential.

  6. Platypuses are one of the few venomous mammals! Males of the species have a structure on their hind feet that dispenses venom that can cause severe pain to humans.

  10. Low pressure favors warm, mild weather with light winds while high pressure systems favor low temperatures and high winds.  I cheated a little because I had a hunch about this after learning about gases last quarter in chemistry, but I have been curious about the affect of pressure on weather.

  11. some of the colors we use to pain with cannot be found in nature and can only be made using chemicals

  12. Ok they claim that Giraffe's evolved from a 10 ft tall antelope-like mammal which roamed Europe and Asia 30-50 million years ago...yet Its impossible because while they were evolving they would of died before even getting the chance...because their necks are so long..that when they bent down to get a drink...all the blood would rush to their heads and their head would explode...but that doesn't happen BECAUSE...they have this little sponge type thing in their heads..and when they bend over blood slowly fills into it while they get their drink...then when they are done they stand up and the blood slowly goes out of it...so that when they stand up really fast...they don't get light headed and pass out...there is no way they could of evolved this feature and survived. Sorry if i didnt explain it so good...or sounded like a idiot..i saw it on a show a really long time ago...but trust me its true...LOL

  13. Leeches can suck the blood out of a human body for up to 30 mins. to an hour; removing about 20mL's of blood from the human body!

Sanguivorous leeches can ingest several times their own weight in blood, at one meal!

Leeches were often uses during medical procedures way back when...they are some times used today, to reduce swelling.
