  1. You can look at the salary schedule for Los Angeles Unified School District online.  Just type "LAUSD Salary Schedule" into a search engine.  A lot will be dependent on how much additional post-graduate work you have done, your years of experience, etc.  Other districts in the southern CA area will have different salary schedules, and contrary to popular belief, salaries in private schools tend to be lower, not higher.

Contact the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing to find out the credential requirements.  But even if your current credential is not granted reciprocity, you have a good chance of being hired (in the Los Angeles area) on an "emergency credential" while you take the coursework needed to get your California credential.

  2. Check with the Department of Education of CA. to get specifics of each county's pay scale.

Also make sure your certification will cross over from Canada into CA.

    Good luck.

  3. You will probably not make that much. Most teachers (sped or not) will make around 30k-40k/year. Private might make a little bit more but this is the AVERAGE with a BA/Masters so basically, 4-6 years of college. hope this helps!
