  1. To send a child to private school which costs 15,000 a year and you have to buy a 4,000 laptop, one must make approx 500,000 a year

  2. I just pulled prices for a top ranked school in our area. We have 2 kids 3 in Dec. For us we'd be having to make an additional 20-35k/yr to pay for it yearly in cash. To finance it, and pay payments, we'd need to be making around 10-15k more a year. If we chose to private school, all we'd have to do to pay for it is have me get a job!:) It's actually a lot less expensive than I thought it would be! I might have to talk to my husband and consider checking into it further.

Price break down for the school I pulled.(East Tennessee)

    FINANCING A WEBB EDUCATION

Webb School is committed to admitting qualified students regardless of a family's ability to pay the full cost of education. All financial aid awards are based on a family's demonstrated need and they are made available to students at any grade level. In order to assess a family's financial need, the school will request specific information, including the previous year's Federal Tax Return with all attachments, W-2s, and a Parent's Financial Statement (PFS). This PFS is a part of a system called the School and Student Services for Financial Aid which is used by many independent schools, including Webb.

  3. I work at a private school that costs about $5,000 a year.  The parents can pay montly.  My students' parents are varied.  One lived in a trailer park, another owned their own private plane and took 4--5 vacations a year.  It depends.  Most of the families I've dealt with have one professional parent (engineer, etc.) & a stay-at-home mom or professional mom (nurse, etc.).

  4. ok those peoples answers are not true about all schools..

i go to a private school and you dont have to buy a laptop for them and you dont have to make 500,000 a year...

you can get a job that pays 26,000-32,000 a year because some private schools can only cost 4,000-6,000 a year you dont have to be rich to get in one unless your in a nice neighborhood that only accept rich people.. no offense to anyone

  5. to the poster that said "One must make approx. 500,000 a year," are you serious? that's only like ... 5% of the entire US population.

I think if you were going to pay $15,000.00 per year, you should at least make about $125,000. If you are sending 1 child to private school that costs that much.

around here.. most cost about $8000. to $10,000. per year and the parents make $70,000. to $100,000. per year.

  6. My son's private school has a 10 month payment plan. I pay $558 a month and $250 for registration. I also have to buy the clothes from there and this year his books...he going into the 4th grade...it is a christian school, which after doing research a couple of years ago before choosing one actually is cheaper than just a "private school".

    I make about $46,000 a year...

  7. the private school my daughter goes to cost 4500 dollars for kindergarten. now, first grade is going to cost 5100, on top of the 150 dollar registration fee. you can pay it all at once, or you can make monthly payment. luckily, my husband is a detective at the police department, and prior military and i am a pediatric nurse practioner and we also have a catering service. it's hard, but you have to do what you have to so your children can have the best education. the shool she goes to has a 98 % rate for students going on and graduating from a 4 year college or better!
