How much do you make working on a private yacht?

On average how much are you paid per position (Captain, 1st mate, engineer, cheif and so forth) on a private yacht not including tips? On average how much do you make in tips?

A VERY general rule is 1000.00/ft of boat length.  mates about 750/ft,  engineers  650/ft ,  chefs very subjective to skills and boat usage.  Tips very widely as to use of boat.  A busy charter boat will bring good tips,  a non charter that spends months on end at the dock not so much.  Like any other job, the rates vary widely depending on the specific situation.  It is one of those professions that look like a dream job to the outsider, but in reality, like most jobs the grass may seem greener on the other side of the fence in a lot of cases.
