How much do you pay for childcare ?

Question

I mean a daycare setting at the providers home.

Food & activities would be provided.

Also the person would be certified and registered as a childcare provider with the state.

Keep in mind I live NYC where cost of living and other things are higher.

I live in Bergen county.  About 5 years ago my friend was paying $8/hr or $50/day, whichever was less.  So basically, anything over 6 hrs was included.  I don't think food was provided but she was a cert teacher and had weekly themes and projects/activities.

I am familiar with the current day care center rates as well if you're interested.

well in VA i pay 75$ 5 days a week, 8 hours for a 1 year old..ive had her since he was born. shes registered and certified!! thats actually good priced around here..others is 150 100.

in louisiana rates are usually 60 a week for in home which provides meals and free play. for a structured daycare center the rates are around $90-100 a week.

Haha... Childcare... kids are super expensive but everyone forgets to tell you that when your preggers. I live in San Diego, CA and was paying $560 a month which was $140 a wk for a home daycare...it included meals, arts and craft. I took him out of there tho. B/c the owner was never there and they had too many kids and the quality started to go down. I know what you mean about cost of living and other things are higher(like gas, a whole diff. topic.) I am a home daycare provider with the credentials you mentioned., plus I have a Child Development Associates and I am accredited by the NAFCC (National Association of Family Child Care).   I do provide all you stated.   I charge $175 for any age child.  Before I became accredited, I charged the following rates:

Full time slots (35-50 hours a week):

Newborn - 2 years~ $160 per week

3 years - 12 years ~ $125 per week   Unless the child  wasn't potty trained and then I still charged $160 a week

My fees are comparable to those in my area.

I don't live in NY; I live in Fl, but I thought this might help you.

I live in Canada and my baby is in a child care setting, we pay $37 per day.  When she was in the infant room, it was $49 per day.

We had her in a home daycare for a couple of weeks, and realized our mistake and pulled her out.  It was $30 per day.
