They buy our old, out of form or past-their-prime type players for a lot of money but if a REAL DECENT player is in their prime, just say thurston, prince, slater went, how much would they be earning?

  1. A $hit load of money =D

  2. Jamie Lyon, who was a star when he went after walking out on Parra (Parra's best player, Australian rep, young etc) - St Helens paid $150,000 for his contract to Parra and to him $600,000 for 2 years - obviously would have other perks - ie free home to live in, family relocation, flights back home in the off season etc - so all up close to $900,000 or so for 2 years.

  3. Depends which Club he signs with.  SuperLeague clubs have a salery cap the same as NRL.  In the coming years fewer and fewer 'has beens' are going to find 'pension' top-up slots in the UK.

If a young 'star' were to sign and he meets the work permit regulations he could earn £95-£100k per year. A player with a SO selection or two and with say five years potential should be able to earn £150k plus and a 'real' star might reach the 'giddy heights' of £200k.........but that's small beer when you see that sort of money being earned each week by top quallity 'round ballers'.  Also there is little opportunity of earnings from outside the game i.e. from marketing/promotional work.  Anyway only one in three overseas signings make a worthwhile impression with the hardbitten 'pom' fans and clubs.

  4. I'm not sure but i recon it would be a f*cken S**t load...

  5. They do not necessarily buy old players Matty King was at the top of his game.It was publicised at the time but i can not remember how much it was.

  6. I am not too sure but way more than what they pay them in the nrl.
