I am having a garage sale to sell some stuff I have and was wondering what people generally pay for things.

such as:

i have brand named jeans ( aeropostale,YMI, vigoss, hydraulic,etc)

most in good condition except fraying at the bottoms since i have short legs.

shirts, all from jc pennys, kohls, aero etc.

stuffed animals, little ones and the big like four foot tall ones.

shoes, addidas, sandals etc

rollerblades, a razor scooter.

let me know and thanks. =]

  1. I wouldn't be too disappointed if you don't make a lot of money, but if you think it'll be fun and have to get rid of the stuff anyway I say go for it!  To maximize your time though try offering your stuff from 7:30 to 10:00 - the prime time for garage sales.  Also, some of the larger items, like the scooter, you might actually do better by listing it on Craigslist.com - you'll probably get more for it too.

  2. Trust me, even if you think your stuff is in excellent condition, people coming to garage sales don't care!! They only want it if you're practically giving it away.

The jeans, you might get $3 to $5 each, maybe...depending on what neighborhood you live in. The shirts, maybe a dollar. The stuffed animals, 50 cents each. The shoes/sandals? who knows. The rollerblades and scooter are your hot items. Maybe $20 for the blades, and maybe another $20 or $25 for the scooter depending on the condition.

I've found over the years that the garage sale isn't worth the time it takes for the pennies you earn. You'd be better off donating your stuff to Goodwill or Salvation Army and save the receipt for you taxes. You'll actually make more that way!!
