I will have gone to 11 baby showers this year! a few were family and the rest are close friends. I am a very giving person I'm the one that buys half the registry for you and makes sure you get a little of everything but 11 showers is getting costly.

How much do you usually spend? whats a good amount?

  1. depends on the person

  2. I usually spend from $15-30 if I am not close to the person. If I am,I usually spent a little more.If I can't spent the full 15-30,I at least just try to find something that they need that looks nice.

  3. I spend what I can afford which is usually about $20 bucks!  You don't have to try and impress everyone with what you spend!

  4. "I am a very giving person I'm the one that buys half the registry for you and makes sure you get a little of everything"

LOL!!  . . . that's probably why you're getting invited to so many baby showers!!

I went to 2 this year:  Best friend from highschool-$50 present;  Co-Worker whom I'm not that close with-$25.  That's based on my personal budget though (and the fact that I have only attended 2 this year).

If I were like you and on my 11th, I'd probably just be downloading lullabies and burning a cd marked "baby lullabies . . . "  I couldn't afford to be so generous!

  5. I usually spend between 35 - 50. But for my best friend I spend about 150 whoops :)

  6. $20

  7. 50 cent

  8. HONESTLY IT DEPENDS ON THE PERSON CLOSE FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER $100.00

    NEIGHBOR, ETC $25.00

  9. Friend=$30-$50 bucks

    Close friend family member=$50-$100

I usually try to buy 1 bigger item instead of a bunch of smaller items.  The smaller items can add up super fast, but still look like a chinsy gift. : (

Usually I go for the bouncer, exersaucer, umbrella type stroller, etc.

  10. it would depend on my relationship to the person and how much i like them.  I have been to three baby showers before. I spent  $50 on the first one, about $110 on the second (the person gave ME a really generous shower gift so i wanted to reciprocate), and about $80 on the third.  All three were friends, but not super close friends.

If I had to go to 11 showers in one year I would certainly spend less. Probably $25-$50 per shower.

  11. I usually spend between $20-$30.  If it's for someone really close to me I'll probably spend more.  Woo 11 baby showers is insane!

  12. There is no "good amount." If you spend something, it is better than nothing. Just keep your budget in mind like you are already doing and spend as much as you feel you are able to. I'm not trying to blow you off with this answer, it's just that simple: there are no real rules for this sort of thing. Everybody's financial situation is unique, and everybody's relationship with the mother-to-be is unique as well. Grandma will probably outspend your old school teacher, for example.

  13. It depends on who the mother to-be is and how close I am to her.

For someone I don't know very well, I would probably spend around $30.00.  But for my sister's shower, I spent $200.00 on her gift.

  14. You're so sweet! I don't do nearly all that! For my close relatives I'll help with the baby shower, fill up a basket of stuff, pick up clothes like crazy and do a lot. I don't track my spending with that but I'd say I spend at least $100-300.---But that is only for my sister or someone really close.

Anyone else I'm pretty cheap. I get a couple outfits on sale, rattle, toy, and a pack of diapers. I spend no more than $35-40. I'm sure all those people have family closer to them that will go crazy and buy them all the big stuff!

  15. depending on who its for maybe $30 for friends, $50 for most family. but im a pretty good shopper too. it usually just depends if im buying one of the larger items needed or buying a little of everything of the smaller items needed.

  16. If it's someone I just "know" then not a lot probably 30 bucks, if it's one of my close friends or family members then a little more and since I know they better I can always feel a little more confident I'll get them something they'll like.

  17. Acqaintance: $20-$25

    Family member: $25-$50

Best friend, sister, sister-in-law, etc: $50-$100

    Those are my general guidelines.

  18. I woild spend about $30. You can find some great affordable items on http://www.onespoiledbaby.com

  19. It depends on how close I am to the person.  I probably average $20 to $25, but I don't go to half as many baby showers as you do.

If you have a Ross store near you, I've found very nice baby scrapbooks and albums for $4.99.  I also look in the Sunday paper for coupons for diapers and other baby items, if I know I need a present.  Also, I like to give giftcards to Starbucks for $10 or $15, along with a baby present, so mom can be happy and get a coffee to keep up with the newborn.

  20. Well if my sister ever has a baby I would spend 150 or so.  My friends about 30.00

  21. We would probably spend around $50-$60 for a friend. Over $100, if it is a close relative or close friend. If it is only an acquaintance, then probably $30.

Just to give you an idea, when we did our baby shower registry, most items picked were in the $50-$75 range (50% of all guests), then below $50 category (30%), and 20% of guests bought items over $75 and over.  Mind you, the gifts were from couples (spouses invited also) and quite a few people made it to the party/shower.

  22. Depending on your own budget it is usually between $10-$20 normally. Soemthings you could find on sale and it may look $30 but you spend $15 on it..who will know right? Just what ever you can afford really, noone will know how much you spent..unless you just show up with one pack of wipes or a tube of Desitin or something, then you might be figured out..haha

  23. I am like you, I generally spend much more than the other guests. I'll usually buy a little gift for the mother (lotion, massage oil, perfume, etc.) and then gifts for the baby.

  24. I recently had a baby shower.  I would say the average to spend would be $30-40 if it is family and close friends.  Unless it is really close family and you want to splurge for furniture, carseat, etc.  Baby clothes, blankets, bottles etc you can buy for $30-40.
