  1. at those fine restaurants if the server is a professional he can make a huge sum.I'm from Canada and only vaguely know Morton's.they are pricey aren't they??it depends on your sales......25 to 30 % would not be out of line.

    if they sold 2000 a nite,they could make 500.

those restaurants are probably very busy, and it would not be that hard to sell 2000,even at 20% thats 400.

i think all of you are lowballing, they make a sh*t pile if they are busy.

i know that in vancouver BC,at the best restaurants,a full time pro can make over 100,000 ,no sh*t!

  2. I worked at a high end restaurant (local place) and the big difference was that we had far fewer tables to serve.  That way you get better service, more attentive, faster to notice you need more drinks, etc.  At a restaurant like Applebee's or Chili's a waiter has a lot more tables and faster turn over so even with the lower checks, they can make a similar salary, but personally I think its a lot more work.

But a full time server who works most dinner and a lot of lunches could easily make $1000 a week.  However, there will be slow weeks and weeks where you go a whole night without anyone ordering lots of alcohol or extra appetizers or other things to help raise the bill.

  3. My husband used to work as a server in PF Chang's before he graduated from school.  Typical nights, he would make 85 to 100 bucks a night.  If he was assigned the dayshifts, he would make half of that.  The best night he had was during valentine's day when the place was packed with lots of people waiting.

  4. A family member has a high end restaurant.  The servers there make anywhere from 800 to 1500 dollars a week.
