For example, if you're a psychic...does medication have any effect on your being able to hear spirits? (I know it depends on the medication...but just wondered if you have any ideas about this.)

  1. Yes.

Depends on the type of medication & the amount.

  2. well, I'm currently taking prozac and it doesn't affect me at all. But if you were schizophrenic, say, the meds for those might very well, but I'm not sure about that.

  3. Well this could be a 50-50 answer according to some people let me explain

Being physic or having another sixth sense comes genetically or you tend to develop it on your own

Getting drugged on, well drugs could cause affects such as you hearing stuff but this could be from the medicine not actual ghosts are contacting you but it could be that this medication has an effect to make you see or hear spirits

  4. It effects me big time.  Last year I ripped the meniscus in my right knee and was on some mega power pain killers for 4 months.  I could not meditate, my psychic ability's were gone and every time I tried anything I just spaced out forgot what I was doing.  It took about a month to come back after getting off the drugs.   I think anyone wanting to work on psychic skills should just stay away from drugs.

  5. >Well I can tell ya from my anything goes 70s days, you can hear a lot of voices depending what medication you have decided to use. LOL

  6. LOL to Nuff....depends on the drugs/meds...some can alter your state of being, and make things easier to connect...then others can totally block it out...as john has said.....

  7. There is something to be said for the fact that most people who report paranormal/alien/visual out of the ordinary behaviour are often said to be children, drunks, on drugs or temporarily insane.

I am not accusing anybody of being any of the aforementioned.

However, it's interesting because it may indicated that we ourselves are only able to relax enough to see/hear/experience the paranormal when we are in an altered state. (Children being the exception, because their brains are probably still soft enough to let in all kinds of things.)

People who are able to see/hear/experience without the aid of drugs, alcohol or other brain bending substances most likely trance or meditate and this might achieve the same results for someone who is more susceptible to other goings-on.

If you are already able to experience things out of the ordinary, and you are taking medication that stands in the way of your ability. Depending on the drugs (ie. Anti-psychotics or various types of schizophrenia medication) you will want to weigh very carefully what you value more, your health and family or your gifts.

    I hope that this helps.

  8. Medications can definitely have an effect on your ability to hear, see, or sense spirits and other entities.  Drugs that alter your brain chemistry (such as antidepressants, anti-psychotics, anti-seizure meds, etc.) can dampen or enhance your ability to sense the things around you, depending on what is occurring near you and how you sense them unmedicated.  As well, sedatives will usually dampen your ability to sense anything beyond your five senses.  However, there are reported cases of sedatives being used to enhance the ability to sense things around the psychic medium.  Sedatives used to increase senses are caused by people who have anxiety or stress built up that is prohibiting them from hearing, seeing, or sensing things beyond the five senses.  This is the same with medications that alter your brain chemistry.  On rare occasions, some problem of chemistry is prohibiting the psychic medium from sensing, and the medication corrects the problem.  Whether it helps or hinders or whether it has no effect at all is completely up to the type of medication that is applied, the brain chemistry of the medium, and how the medium senses things.  Medications such as antibiotics, birth control, etc. do not have an effect on the ability to sense.  However, pain medications do have an effect, almost always.  The reason for this is that the medium is either in too much pain to sense (and the medication suppresses this pain, making things more clear), or the medium is using it without a need, and it clouds his brain, keeping him from sensing clearly.  Alcohol and recreational drugs work like sedatives.  If you use small amounts, if you are blocked from stress and/or anxiety, it can clear your senses somewhat; but if he simply uses it for recreation, he will cloud his ability to sense.

Being clouded by stress and/or anxiety is absoultey NO excuse for using medications you don't otherwise need, drinking alcohol, or using any recreational drugs.  You can get the same benefit to your senses by practicing meditation and/or yoga, and you don't suffer the same clouding and dampening that can result from drugs.

So, yes, drugs have a large effect on any psychic senses or abilities, but depending on the psychic, their abilities, and how their senses work; it can either dampen or clarify.  If you are seeking something to clarify and prohibit dampening though, you should stay away from drugs, medications, and alcohol, and become involved with meditation and yoga, whic have nothing but benefits.

  9. I would say yes. Anytime you are on any drug, your mind is clouded and influenced by that chemical. The mind had to be open and receptive to experience psychic phenomena. Its like a radio station. Your brain has to be clear in order to recieve the sensitive, suble energies that psychics do. It not just drugs, but heavy foods or unstable thoughts or emotions can also affect what psychics experience.
