ok, well, NY state is very, very large but if you just want to get into NY, like through Buffalo, it should take less than an hour drive to cross the border. from buffalo to NYC, that's gotta be at least a 6 hour drive. since you didn't tell us how much gas cost in canada or what kind of mileage you get in your car or where in NY you're going, this question really cannot be answered correctly.
