  1. Varies by venue. Clubs may pay well over $1000, if you're in Europe or Asia and you play EDM, you can earn a good living as a DJ working only Friday-Sunday nights (I spent a month going around and playing shows making quite a bit). Generally, for a smaller party like a school as the other poster said, you will be paid from $50-200/hour depending on your rep and whether you work for a company. Our firm's normal rates our $600/hour, but our music selection is far superior, we cater to parties with special tastes in EDM, and we suggest unknown, unreleased music based on the tastes of the client (we also do an experimental 5.1-9.1 Surround Sound). Generally, clubs pay our DJs around $1200-3000 per hour with heavy discounts if they hire for more than two hours (surround sound is quite a bit extra because we have a lot of hardware). It depends who you are and what you do. Our firm does not market ourselves for schools as they provide lower margins so I cannot elaborate on what the other poster said. As a rule of thumb, $600/3 hour set is a good starter rate for neophyte DJs with generic industry standard equipment, but it all depends who the client is hiring. I do some radio DJing and it's $120 per hour once a week, which is actually rather low for EDM DJs, but I enjoy it so I don't really mind.

  2. You would normally get paid around $200-$500 for 3 hours.
