  1. looking at UPS heavy weight would cost approx. 0.50/lb.

you could contact a trucking service, place it on a pallet and ship it by truck but that could be as much as 0.85/lb plus packing...

  2. I had a boat shipped from Indiantown, Florida to Milwaukee about 4 years ago, but it was only a 28-footer so they were able to haul 2 boats at once.  That was a bit over 2K, so my guess is you are looking at at least 6k for a boat that size, probably more.

I looked around quite a bit and was found that jouel had very good prices at that time.  (link below)

Don't feel bad about asking for a quote,  it doesn't obligate  you.  If it's much more than what I mentioned, you may also wish to look into on the water yacht delivery services.  South Florida is accessible by either the Erie Canals and ICW down the east coast, or through the Chicago river and down the Mississippi.  Surf around and you'll find the companies, or look in the back of sailing/boating magazines.

You didn't mention the beam of your boat, but at that length, trailer width may be a problem even with permits.   I doubt it, but it may be.

  3. Greetings -

A lot of people sell large outboard motors on eBay (50-250 HP) weighing hundreds of pounds. I know my 1969 55 HP Johnson outboard weighs in at about 600#. Typically I see the cheapest is through a motor carrier. UPS and USPS usually have a 70# limit. Costs can vary widely, and there are huge discounts if it can be shipped from a business to a business, many times 50% off or more "residential" rates. I shipped some engine heads (cast iron) from Ohio to Massachusetts and the guy I sold them to had an account with FedEx. I have been quoted about $135 to ship, I think he got them shipped for about $35. It gives you an idea of the price differences for the same services.

If the motor is small and light enough, check out trailways or greyhound bus service. I know newer motors are a lot lighter than their 1960s and 1970s cousins. Bus and fright services generally can go larger and heavier than either USPS or UPS. I know people ship large car parts like doors, hoods, and trunks via greyhound. But your motor may be too heavy for a bus. Check into a local freight carrier. If it must be palleted and you cannot do it, there is usually a cost for that, $25-50 for that alone.

There are many specialty companies that can take it for a lesser cost, if you are flexible on getting it there, and are willing to drive to a terminal to pick up or have a business that it can be delivered to.  I would even check with auto transport companies, sometimes they can put something like a motor on a load.

Hope that this is helpful. Have a great day !

    Good luck -
