  1. It is all optional.  Never have tipped a bartender in UK.  In a restaurant - optional but sometimes gratuities are inclusive in bill.  Check first.  Usually it is about 10%

Personally, I do not believe in gratuities at all and restaurants should pay their staff decent wages so they do not have to rely on tips.

  2. Ok.  If it is a Bar you don't tip for just drinks.( although if the bar tender is particularly nice or does something special you can sometimes give a couple of quid and say get one for your self).  In a restaurant it is common to leave about 10%, don't do credit card tip in most restaurants the waiting staff never see these tips and if they do the tax man takes a chunk.

If you get food in a bar but have to order the food at the bar and pay at the time no tip.  If you are served at the table would generally leave a few pounds (again prob about 10%)

  3. It will depend on the service.  If it is bad service, leave just a pence to leave the message loud and clear.  If you don't tip anything the waiter or bartender will just think you rude.

  4. nothin if pub meal. If proper meal out then £1 per person that ate. Nothing for just drinks

  5. I'd say $0 because when they visit the states they don't bother tipping here.
