I am trying to find a healthy weight for myself as an avid cross country female runner. Currently I am 5'7", 110 pounds, and 15 years old. Is this a good weight to be strong and healthy. I think it is but my periods don't. they stopped a half a year ago when I dropped 5 pounds from increasing my mileage. How much do most cross country girls weigh for their height. If you think I should alter my weight by losing or gaining weight please be honest. And any meal ideas for a typical runner would be great depending on your opinion of my weight. I need answers. Thanks!!!

  1. i run xc and i'm 5'3", weigh 108lbs. i never get my periods during season because of the amount of training, but i always get them off-season. maybe take a week or two off and try to put on a few pounds.

  2. being 5'7" and 110 might be too light.  It is under weight.  You should just eat healthy, and not skipp meals.  It may be good for you to gain wait, but not fat.  Exercise and a healthy diet should do you good.

  3. if you feel uncertain,

gain 5-10 pounds in muscle or something.

if its muscle, it will raise the scale, but shouldnt hurt you with running.

my friend is a cross country runner, she is probably 5'6, and weighs maybe 125.

she looks healthy and is very active.

  4. i think you're at a beautiful weight for a xc runner! you are runner and it doesn't matter what you weigh as long as you enjoy running.

if you research a little, you'll see that you a completly normal runner. tons of runners are thin and get irregular periods.

  5. i am 15, 5'10 and weigh 122 pounds

according to your BMI http://www.runnersworld.com/cda/bmicalcu... you are under weight. Don't worry- a lot of runners are, including me. As long as you are healthy and feel strong + eat well then i think you are good. As for your period alot of runners get it late (me again and most of my team) so it is good that you had it once. Since it went away it probably means that you need more nutrient. Talk with your doctor. Here are some recipes: http://www.runnersworld.com/subtopic/0,7...

  6. hey! im 5'7" and 15yrs old too!! lol...and i am also an XC runner as well. i weigh about 97lbs and i do pretty well i was 4th on the varsity team last yr. i gues u could say im on the skinny side but not unhealthy or coach wouldve said something and i wouldnt have gotten good times. 110 sounds perfectly fine to me but im no expert. id say its only unhealthy if u drop significantly very fast. otherwise i just say be sure ur eating healthy. i have no idea if the period thing is linked to the running but if u just started  then its normal, i got it first time then skipped 4months then i started to even out. but the "right" weight can vary a lot so only ppl that no you personally could be the closest to giving u accurate answers. hope i helped anyway and good luck :-)

  7. I'm 117 pounds at 5'5".

But this is my first year.

I'm not fat, but I'm probably the stockiest of the XC girls.

  8. 10 st 7

  9. If you aren't getting your period that is Very serious. You are too skinny and not healthy. I know if must be hard for you to put weight on, considering your training the XC. But this is very serious.

  10. You are fairly light for your age and height! Try consuming more meat for muscle and dairy products such as cheese and milk for calcium because if you are a runner you are supposed to be fairly heavy because of muscle.

    I am 5 foot 5 nearly 6 and weigh around 96 pounds.

  11. who cares about makin babies...RUN

  12. Yiiikes I was a cross country runner I'm 5'1" and I'm healthy and muscular at 115 lbs. I think you need to gain some weight although you're probably naturally thin plus you're running I'd just try to eat some more throughout the day if you don't want to decrease mileage.

Are you carb crazy by chance? I know a lot of runners are.. my periods stopped for like a year because I wasn't eating enough fat and protein even though I was eating healthy carbs like whole grains. I started drinking protein shakes once a day and my period returned within a month!

  13. The Ideal body weight for someone who is 5'7" is between 122-149 lbs. There is obviously a problem if you're periods have stopped that is the body's way of telling you that something is wrong. I do suggest changing doctors.
