I got a 1 ounce of gold coin from my grandma. I don't know any specifics about the coin, but its from 1976 from South Africa. How much could I sell the coin for? ps. the coin has no sentimental value to me.

  1. the coin is probably a Kruggerand.  it's a one ounce coin of the bullion class.  gold is currently at $930 an ounce so don't sell it for less than that.  you can probably get $20 to $30 more than spot price if you are patient and look for the right buyer.

  2. Presumably you have a krugerrand, and that's fine.

The price of gold goes up and down, you can track it online:

    http://www.kitco.com

Just to show how fast it changes, price is now $922.00 / oz.

If you sell your krugerrand, you can expect someone to pay you slightly less than the current "spot" price.

The price of gold does go up and down, but your krugerrand will never become worthless. Some people think that the price of gold is going to rise dramatically over the next few years.

  3. $930.40 per ounce at this moment!  you have a nice grandma!!! hope i helped

  4. I have no idea to be honest. All I know is that 1 Pound of Gold is traditionally valued at £1.

  5. Is it a coin or an ounce of gold?

If a coin go to a dealer buy a book on coins. The condition has everything to do with the worth.

If it is just a hunk of gold, it goes by the current $value on the market and international exchange rates.

if you need that info, search the web for the info and places to find it. Good luck in your treasure hunting sweetie!
