  1. 100 - 120 a month depending on extra classes besides the basic 2x a week

  2. How much do you pay?

            - I am just about to start BJJ, never having done it before.  Generally, I found the cost of the schools to be 89$ -200$ monthly.  As stated before, the "Gracies" and other top names are going to be far more expensive because of their fame, but if you are just starting BJJ, you could learn just as much under a purple belt, so I suggest save the money for now and go with the cheapest school.

Is it per session, per hour, or per year?

              - From what I have found, it's actually per month.  Sessions average out to a certain amount, but you actually pay the monthly fee.  Some schools offer/require 6 mo/ yearly contracts, but buyer beware, you may sign up for a school you won't even like.  I suggest not going this route.  Private sessions are per hour though, and are more expensive.  In northern Viriginia, the cheapest school I can find is 89$ for two days a week 1.5 hour sessions, and 99$ for the 18 class offerings per month.  Hope this helps, good luck on finding a cheap and effective BJJ school!

  3. The prices will vary widely based on your location and the level of instruction. If you are training directly with a Gracie or one of the Machados you may be paying 200$/month. If you are at a good MMA gym with a Brown Belt BJJ instructor you may be paying 65-85$/month.  A lot of it depends on where you are in the country/world. The best way to find out is to look up all of the BJJ schools in your area and all of the MMA gyms and find out what each one charges. That will give you the best idea of the normal price for your area.
