I see a lot of people have asked this question a couple of years ago but to date, how much do CFL players earn and does most of the players (rookies) have to get part time or second jobs to maintain?

  1. The average CFL player makes about 50-75,000 a year for a starting position.  A lot of the players will take up a job on the off months to keep the cash flow going, and some invest their money into a business to keep themselves afloat in the off-season.

  2. The base salary is right around 45,000 a year, starters make more anywhere from 70-500 a year.  Many have offseason jobs, but most don't need them, unless you choose to live in downtown Vancouver or Toronto, which in that case unless you are in the upper echelon of players, you will need a side job.  Many players make money on the side doing speaking engagements, pinball clemons makes 10,000 dollars each time he speaks, so the money can be very good.
