Americans blamed Bush and elected Democrats to turn the tide and from January 2006 to March 2008, the price of gas shot up to $3.25 per gallon, a price now dwarfed by the $3.49 per gallon a month later, in April 2008.

In the 14 months since Democrats took control of congress, the price of gasoline has shot up a whopping $1.26 per gallon, marking a record 56.8% increase in just 14 months. So much for turning that rising tide…

Liberal Ideas at Work in the European Union

Democrats have no original thoughts of their own, so they simply adopt the liberal ideas of their friends over in the European Union. However, the European Union is the one place on earth in worse shape than America in terms of energy.

  1. Rumor has it it's running from 1.18 to 1.22  a gallon unless my contact was pulling my leg. But I believed it at the time. If it's so.somebody in America is doing something very wrong Huh?  I was interested as my daughter lives in Alaska and their prices were running  higher than ours at the time.

  2. We paid last week, $1.33 per LITER, times 3.8 = over $5/gallon

  3. $1.15 a litre in Calgary last time I filled up.  You Americans should STFU about having such cheap gas.

  4. As to your last comment:

Have you been to Europe recently? That's a good standard of living that they have.

If you think that's somewhere that is worse off than the US, you should go take a look!

The price of gas is related to the exchange rate; for example, you get one British pound for just over two American dollars, but the British treat a pound as you treat a dollar - candy, coffee, newspaper.

  5. That`s Canada`s problem ! However if one stops to think about it  , all the liberal talk from Europe about them paying $6 & $ 8 a gallon and that is supposed to make USA less vocal about gas prices here ? One thing Lib`s don`t mention is the fact that even though they are in control of most European governments that many of the countries there have at least a 30% nuclear power source ! So the high gas prices in Europe are due to the governments having to pay for all their "Socialist Welfare Programs" ! So the Lib`s can get you at both ends at the same time , and convince some that it feels really good at either end !

  6. Canada and the US pay too little for gas.  Most of europe pays $8/gallon ++.  The result is a reduction in hydrocarbon consumption per capita.  We have adopted a culture that is based on big homes in the suburbs of big cities with big SUV's to get to work.  I live in a place that is the poster child for excessive gasoline consumption.  At $0.45/gallon the traffic/road safety/death rate and gasoline consumption growth rate, is completely crazy.

  7. Yep, it's over $5.00 a gallon and ours could be even less but the sad thing is that we have been blocked for years from drilling and building new refineries.  Refineries are running at capacity, and we are slaves to OPEC.

I really do not understand the mentality of Pelosi and the others who block drilling for our own oil which could last for more than a millennium, and is a renewable resource.

Alaska had the Caribou on the endangered species list, but since the pipeline went through it has increased a lot of the wildlife population due to the warmth and growth of grass underneath it!

Unfortunately, the kind of thinking that got us here is being perpetuated, despite the consequences, and I expect we will pay even more.  This restricts our freedom, which makes those who refuse to drill ecstatic! (sarcasm)
