  1. Ultimately depends on the job

As a Utility Company that is still under the aegis of the Irish Government the rates of pay are generally way above equivalent jobs in the private sector - this includes both blue and white collared jobs

To the extent that some grades have ridiculous pay levels

The ESB is also heavily unionised

If you wish to join a company that has no connection with the reality of the rest of the universe and so depends on the private sector to pay for their  excessive wage checks- best of luck

The high levels of wages endemic within the company now means that much of the essential work has to be contracted out in order that some economies of scale are controlled.

    ie Contractors are Cheaper

  2. They have to pay the industrial average.

There was an issue a couple of years ago when they were paying some Polish engineers considerably less than Irish engineers with the same qualifications and doing the same jobs, and the unions got involved and made the company pay up what they owed. It was very interesting!

  3. There's no average, It depends how long you've been working there and how high up and advanced/skilled you are in the job.

    = )

  4. what does that mean,do you mean how much does it cost?
