How much does H&R block charge to do your taxes?

i just moved out and will be filing my own taxes this year but i know i'll need some help! how much does H&R block charge you to do your taxes on average?

A good deal more than someone that doesn't have a brand name.  Call around or try to do it yourself.  You will probably just do a Form 1040-EZ that is supporse to be, well, EZ!

You can go to IRS.GOV and do a FREE TAX RETURN if you have access to a computer and can read and write english.  If you have any specific questions feel free to ask me; 37 years income tax preparation experience with VITA.

It depends on the complexity of the return so there is no standard answer.  If you have just moved out and are on your own for the first time, your situation is probably pretty simple, so you would be on the low end.

Look for a VITA site in your area - they'll do it for free.
