Suddenly, several Friends and Family of mine are to serve as Jury Duty in this month @_@

I think some of the States are Hawaii, Californa, Ohio, & Michigan-- if that helps.

I know different States pay different ammounts and some times different Counties, but I am haveing trouble finding those ammounts.

So anyone know alot of States and how much they pay, or those states atleast?

  1. Some of your friends and family members may be able to continue to receive their normal pay from their employer, minus the $40 or so that the courts will pay.  Employers are not required by law to continue an employee's pay, but many do so as a positive gesture.

Also, some courts will give a mileage allowance and pay parking fees and tolls if the juror is required to drive very far or use toll roads, etc.

I am not a resident of any of the states that you listed, so I don't know the exact amount of daily jury duty pay.  Nobody gets rich serving on a jury, but it is a duty as a member of a democratic society, and an honor as well.

I served on a jury for a civil case when my kids were younger, and the county did offer to pay my daycare for two kids after school daycare if they wouldn't have been able to go to their grandma's house.  They also paid a small mileage allowance, and I got a sticker allowing me to park free for court business the whole time I was needed.

I hope this helps keep a few of your worries at bay.

  2. Jury duty is only viable if you enroll in the program, and if you are summoned.

    But the credentials are:

    1) employed

    2) mentally sane

    3) U.S. citizen

    4) nonstudent

  3. Here in Nevada we get $40 plus food.  If you're a government  employee you still get you're full pay.  Good deal

  4. California pays $15 a day plus $0.34 a mile one way for everyday you are on jury duty minus the very first day.

I spent 10 days on a jury but they paid me only for 9 days. I made something like $168.00 from the State. My company also paid me for 10 days of jury duty at my regular salary, I would also ask your friends and family if the company they work for pays for any jury duty days.

Good Luck with Jury Duty...Hopefully they don't get put on a case like I did...3 attempted murder charges...we ended up a HUNG Jury...Mistrial..wow that totally sucked.

  5. North Carolina pays $12 per day.
