We are going for a day trip to Juarez, Mexico to do some shopping and that is it. Could risk not having the insurance and may do that. If I decide to purchase insurance how much approximately should it cost for an SUV one day trip? How much approximately for a 4-door one day trip? If you are marketing something don't respond I don't want your unbiased sales pitch. Are any of the online companies reputable? if so, who?

  1. I think the easiest way to do it, it's buying it from your regular insurance company ... tell them you are going there one day and you want to have insurance while you are there .. I am sure they can help you with it.

  2. You dont need insurance to travel to Juarez.

If you plan on traveling beyond Juarez then you need insurance but If just in Juarez your normal insurance will be fine.

  3. Why would you want to shop there? American goods out of your price range or what?

All they sell there is cheap c**p.

  4. Hey,

I understand why you'd consider gambling on not getting the Mexican insurance - but I for one don't think I'd ever do that, on the off chance that somebody rear-ended me or I got pulled over while in Mexico.  I guess I feel that way because my husband and I got into a fender bender when we were traveling in mainland Mex a while back and the insurance really helped us.  Anyway, that's your call....

If you decide to get the insurance, there are a few companies I would recommend - bajabound.com and oscar padilla (mexicaninsurance.com).  I hear mexadventure is pretty good too.  My family has used bajabound for about 6 years and they always give us a good rate.  The main reason we stick with them is because we like they way they deal with us on the phone - I'm the type of person that asks a lot of questions and the girls I talk to there are patient and answer everything.

I don't know what kind of car you have, and that will make a big difference in terms of how much it costs.  I do know that insurance companies determine the rates they charge you by identifying the year, make and model of your car and how much it is currently worth.  I would shop around those companies and see where you get the best rate/service.

    Good luck!
