  1. IN BRIEF:

Because we're talking successful station in a major market, there is a rate card, but you can't see it. Neither can I. It's fluid. Changes constantly based on supply and demand. That's why you didn't get an answer to your question. Only the sales manager knows from hour-to-hour.

The sales staff would usually receive a request such as yours and qualify it first. Is it the sort of client they want on their air? can they pay the bill? are they in it for the long-term results or do they think a couple of :60's will get them instant results?

Once all that is established and they have also verified your needs and the appropriateness of your business with their audience, they will discuss a plan that will help you promote your business and the subject of rates will first come up.

If you are a buyer at a well-known agency, you'd have a contact and that person would tell you what rate to use when putting together a "buy" for Client A during the time period you specify.

Expect it to be several hundred dollars (each :30) during the 10-3P and 7P-12M slots, and potentially more than a thousand during morning and afternoon "drive" time; depending on how much money you spend with them annually.

Good question. A star for you!
