  1. all the way to the bowels of the earth

  2. I'm not sure what you're asking, but I'll try to answer.

Lead is about 11 times denser than water, so under water, a 6 ounce sinker would feel like it weighs about 5.4 ounces (or a little less in salt water). This won't really change much, no matter how deep you go, so a lead sinker will sink all the way to the bottom of whatever lake, river, or ocean you're on.

Or if you're asking about fishing -- how deep will a six ounce sinker allow you to fish? This depends on things like how strong the current is, how thick your line is, and how big your bait is.

Under normal conditions, a 6 ounce lead sinker will let you fish a single sardine/squid bait on the bottom in 150 feet of water on 20-25 pound monofilament line.

Or if you're using a big, strong bait (like a live foot-long mackerel), a 6-ounce weight might only keep it about 20 feet down as it swims back in the current.

A 6 ounce lead jig (like a diamond jig) will get you down to 200 feet if there's no bait on it. However, a big aluminum jig, which might be 7-8 inches long ands weigh 6 ounces, will take "nearly forever" (3-5 minutes) to reach the bottom in 100 feet.

If you're asking about scuba diving weights, I have no idea.
